This was my third Art Educator Workshop. It’s a great day where all the area teachers get together to network, exchange lesson plans, catch up on important art ed issues, and do some kind of art workshop. This year we got to paint alongside Yan Sun. It was fantastic to watch everyone paint from a model…something I haven’t done in years.
I’m trying to get more comfortable with watercolor and didn’t want to worry about hue…just shades and washes. Yan was so cute, he didn’t quite understand why I did this and asked, “You know her skin isn’t blue?” Um yes, I know. :)
It’s exactly the same every year, but I think that’s what draws us back.
Apparently there was some drama involved with the Heaviest Pumpkin competition this year and this really was the winner.
A must see.
I didn’t even win Mardi Gras beads this year. Sigh.
The photobooth ate our picture. So, as per usual, I ain’t afraid to hunt down the carnie and make him open it up for me. But we missed out on an Amelie-esque opportunity. When he opened the machine, there were three or four other photos stuck in there from people who had given up waiting. I should have asked if we could keep them. Darn.
One of my favorite newer friends, Jane Boston of Alphabet, had a 24th birthday recently. It was supposed to be a surprise….but she surprised everyone by sneaking in cause she found out about it. So it goes. But we did an awesome job creating a Lisa Frank themed party and a magnificent rainbow cake.
