My dad made me cry in front of everyone at Christmas.
I don’t think it was his intention….but he gave me a gift that just about tore my heart out.
A few years back, a friend gave me a bike he found on the side of the road…..well that’s what he told me anyway. The shape of it was really slick and I saw potential. My dad loves projects like this, so he came over one day and helped me tear it apart.
This guy right here.
And in this place it sat for nearly two years. Just waiting. I took the main pieces down to my buddy and tattoo artist, Kirk, who was going to paint them up and do some wicked pinstriping for me. Kirk passed away early in 2011 and I really hadn’t been able to make myself go down to his garage and dig around for them.
My dad went and found them.
Part 2 coming soon….
My buddy Atom Lax plays guitar like I’ve never seen anyone play guitar. He was asked to play at The Woodchopper’s Ball at the Kent Stage in Kent, Ohio. Quite an honor for a young, small town guy. He did so well and is truly one of the most talented people I’ve ever met.
On the way to the venue, we spotted some coooool yarn bombing outside of the bar we used to frequent in my college days.
Maybe ten minutes went by before Adam somehow already knew I had done this to the bathroom stall. I’ve never been caught so fast.
My real-life friend Jane Boston keeps me musically savvy.
I’ve been extremely introspective lately. The last few years of my life have spurred changes in me that I still don’t totally understand. I have a really hard time talking to people about these things, but I’ve discovered something that I think is really helping me.
750words.com is a platform for writing stream of consciousness….whatever. You just type what is on your mind, and if you reach 750 words a day, you accumulate points. The points really only are motivation to continue writing, but I’ve been finding it’s not as hard as you think it would be. They also create statistics based on what you’ve written, and these stats have proven to be both hilarious and extremely insightful. Check out mine from December 19th to see what I’m talking about.
I’m on a four day streak and I truly believe it is helping me get a better grasp on the things in my life that confuse me. I hope to use this as a platform for song writing once I work through all the weird stuff in my brain.
And share your stats link with me. I’d love to see them.
I came across this list from The Fox is Black and it really spoke to me (for some obvious and not quite as obvious reasons). Woody Guthrie created this list of resolutions for 1942 entitled “New Year’s Rulin’s.”

Recently posts are a lovely little patchwork of those random moments that happen through the week.
Sushi Monday is the best thing everrrr. Sweet Potato is just divine.
We celebrated St. Nicholas (or as I annoyingly refer to it, Dutch Christmas) this year! We exchanged a gift on the 5th. Because I wash my hands probably 30 times a day in the art room, Stevo got me a paraffin hand dipper thingy© and it is the best thing I’ve ever done for my poor, beat up hands. Thanks, Sinterklaas!
Perpetual Kid is the best company ever.
My Baby Friend Forever has names for me now.
What have you been up to recently?
My sisters and I recorded a jingle for our local radio station. It’s silly.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
