Many changes have happened since I last posted, but the two big ones go hand in hand. I have resigned from my position as a high school art teacher to become a full time mama come November.

It is all very bittersweet and as I told my students, I’m certainly not leaving because I don’t love my job, I just have a new one.

Needless to say, there was a lot of emotion involved, so my seniors and I decided to do a swap project so everyone would have a little piece of everyone else to hold onto forever.

These were their portraits I shot with Holga.

Five Senses

Seen:  through the eye of Holga. I convinced students to be models for my weird, colorful vision. I hope it turns out….

Heard: vinyl every day. I was pleased with which records presented themselves while reorganizing.

Smelled: breakfast in bed made by my main man. I’m a lucky girl.

Tasted: Sweeticles. I’ve talked about them before, and I am positive I’ll talk about them again.

Felt: the wind. We have our own little forest behind our new house and the wind blowing through those trees sounds like ghosts. Nancy also enjoys the leaves that get thrown about.

What have your senses picked up on?

p.s. This idea is borrowed from a blogger whose amazing Polaroids I have crushed on forever.

These are from some time ago. From my birthday, in fact. They have been living on my desktop, just waiting to have a post to call home. I’ve been a very neglectful grammother but I’ll make it up to them.

As always, if you hover over the pic, it’ll give you my typical little blurb.

Tuesday Tunage

Where has the time gone?

Last night I went to a Tuneyards concert at the Wexner Center in Columbus and it was AWESOME. The first band left something to be desired, but man oh man, I am smitten with this band. I had heard Bizness and thought it was cool, but when I realized how this music is made, I fell head over heels. Plus it’s UKULELE! IN LOVE FOREVER.

Quite a lovely setup.

And added to my gigposter collection. The sleeve for this record was purchased by Merrill of the Tuneyards at a thrift store, turned inside out and printed on. This highly amuses me.

I love discovering new (to me) music.

Recently….Instagram edition

Recently posts are a lovely little patchwork of those random moments that happen through the week….this time, through Instagram! I finally hopped on the bandwagon and since I’m too incredibly busy to shoot photos like I normally do (t-minus one week until I’m finished with this musical business!) I’ve always got my phone on me. And my high school kids follow me on it, sigh, so now they’re satisfied that they are socially networking with me. Whatever keeps them from finding where I live.

The Govs

My students submitted nearly 70 pieces to the Ohio Youth Governor’s Exhibition this weekend. Got four picked!

Not only did these get picked, but the artwork that my art club made with the dogs at the local Humane Society was auctioned off at their annual fundraiser for $1200.

It was a good day for this art teacher.
